Bursting with history and ye olde English charm, Chelsea Arms stands tall as the oldest surviving pub in Dubai. Opened in 1978, this city landmark has changed very little over the years where it remains a steadfast post for Chelsea FC supporters in search of a nostalgic spot to cheer on their club.
The small but cozy space can be found at Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel in Deira, where regulars gather to watch matches and fill up on British classics like shepherd's pie and roasts. Authentic and timeless describes it best.
There's no sign on the door that says you have to be a Chelsea fan to enter, but it's the place to be if you are. The pub's vintage décor and homely vibe isn't something you normally come across in Dubai; step inside and it's almost like you're back in London. While it may not be the fanciest venue on the block, it's easily the most charming.
Your wallet will be spared by their low menu prices on food and beverages. If you fancy a classically British meal, their shepherd's pie is among the best in town. They're also stocked with a lot of unique beer brands not readily found around here, including our personal favourite London Pride.
While the pub has undergone a renovation in recent years, it's still a very small venue and you'll no doubt be elbowing for space, especially when match night rolls around. We suggest getting there early to secure a table, otherwise you'll find yourself cramped.
We're a little surprised that they haven't banned smoking inside yet. Because it's such a small space, the room tends to fills up quick with smoke; it's an eye-watering experience we'd prefer to avoid. Lastly, if you can't stand the sight of Chelsea fans (there's quite a long list of critics), it's best to hit up a more friendlier establishment.
We suggest arriving hungry because the pub delivers some fantastic hearty selections that'll remind you of home. Indulge your appetite and order the meat tasting course; it includes a range of quality beef cuts that work perfectly for hardcore carnivores.
Make room for their happy hour that takes place every day from 3pm to 9pm. They've got loads of bartender specials on offer, alongside rock bottom prices on draughts and potent cocktails. If you're looking for some football merchandise, the pub also stocks Chelsea FC shirts and memorabilia as well.
