The Review

  • The Good

Jutting out from the roof of Mall of the Emirates, Ski Dubai is so much more than just a slope; it's a resort of winter wonderment inviting you to swap the sweltering heat for sub-zero temperatures.

Jump onto the cable car and ride to the top before carving your way back down in slalom style or braving the Snow Bullet zip line. Kickback with a hot chocolate at the Avalanche Café, toboggan or zorb your way down the slope, and join the King and Gentoo penguins for some ultimate Peng Friend fun. Fancy a campout? Ski camping is available every Friday for those looking for a chilly, overnight adventure.

Grab the thermals and prepare for mountain-themed madness. No matter your ability, this indoor dome will keep you coming back; it's uber cool and snow much fun (sorry, couldn't resist). For the ski camping experience, campers will sleep in two-man tents, equipped with sleeping bags and thermal mattresses.

Ski Dubai kit you out with the gear and can provide lessons if you're new to snow sports. Freestyle fanatic? The ever-changing jumps and rails will test your skill and the black line will assess your agility. For those wanting a taste of the wintery experience, head straight to Avalanche for the hot chocolate - you won't regret it.

  • The Bad
First-timer to skiing Dubai? Stick to the training slopes. That snowy ground may look soft and cushioned, but the vertical perspective from the top is daunting - trust us, we once made that error and ended up walking back down, red-faced with skis in hand.

When the slopes are busy, it's hard to get a good run; the nippy pros pose a serious threat to those still figuring out their balance. In fact, we hate going when it's busy. While you'll be given the snow suit, the gloves need to be bought; you'll need to bring extra layers and a hat if you want to keep yourself feeling snug. And don't forget about the socks.
  • The Tips
Mid-week late night sessions are great; you'll often have the whole place to yourself. It's definitely better to avoid the busy times. Opting for lessons? Make sure to book ahead; you can choose between group or private sessions. All the equipment is provided; if you have your own, you can bring it. For general admission, same-day bookings can be made.

Ski Dubai accepts Entertainer vouchers, which makes it much better value for money. Check out the Snow Park and Penguin Encounter for some chilled out fun. Feeling daring? Try out the Sno-robics fitness class in our 'quirky workouts' category for more. The ski camping experience can accommodate up to 30 people each Friday night.
