Rated as one of the 15 best Italian restaurants in Dubai outside of Italy, Social by Heinz Beck is an authentic hideaway in the lavish Waldorf Astoria Palm Jumeirah. Boasting a Friday brunch, killer Ladies Night and five-course tasting menu every Monday, this fine dining eatery is guaranteed to impress.
Heinz Beck is a three Michelin-starred chef who has made a creative menu with a quirky molecular gastronomy edge. The restaurant overlooks scenic views of The Palm and Dubai Marina skyline, making it one of the perfect go-to places to get Italian food in Dubai.
The walls are adorned with elegant, dark wood panelling, and there's also a wine room with glass walls - both of which add to the overall sophistication of the space. We loved watching the chefs demonstrate their talent in the show kitchen; all ingredients used are carefully selected - we're talking Geay oysters brought in all the way from Charente-Maritime.
We're massive fans of the outdoor terrace which offers a slightly more casual feel than the restaurant inside. The staff is attentive and helpful, and the restaurant even boasts its own sommelier for wine suggestions.
While the dishes are bursting with flavour, expect the portion sizes to be on the smaller side. The Ravioli comes in around eight pieces which won't exactly satisfy those with big appetites.
We wouldn't label Social by Heinz Beck as family friendly; kids under the age of six years aren't allowed in so you'll need to leave the little ones at home for this one.
Smoking is only permitted on the terrace which overlooks the hotel gardens and Marina skyline. Every Wednesday from 7pm, ladies can enjoy a three-course set menu, two complimentary glasses of wine or sparkling, all for a decent price. The five-course tasting menu on Mondays is a definite must-try; you even get a complimentary glass of champagne with it, too.
If you're heading down on date night, we'd advise booking window seats to make the most of the views. It's worth noting that on Sundays the restaurant is closed. Must-try dishes include the Duck Tortellini, the Lamb Medallion in Rösti, and the Chocolate Sable with strawberry sorbet for dessert.
