Ramadan Kareem, everyone! In light of the Holy Month, Dubai has got a lot in store for everyone in the city. From movie nights to magical iftars to a Ramadan night market, here are 7 events in Dubai to look forward to this Ramadan 2018…

1. Ramadanization

Every year, artists in Dubai are invited to create an art piece that reflects what Ramadan means to them. From installations to interactive art to paintings, the annual Ramadanization exhibition is filled with creativity and lets you see the holy month from a different perspective.

When: Daily, until 17th June. From 9am to 10pm

2. Ramadan Film Screenings

Film fanatics, you won’t want to miss Cinema Akil’s Ramadan film screenings during the Holy Month. There’s a collection of four films, which will be screened at Alserkal Avenue every Wednesday night. The programme kicks off next week with Those Who Remain – an emotional documentary about a farmer’s struggles in Lebanon during the Syrian crisis.

When: Every Wednesday, starting 23rd May. From 9.30pm to 11pm

3. Iftar at Dubai Opera

This Ramadan, the Dubai Opera auditorium will transform into a magical banquet hall for iftar. Guests can expect a creative Middle Eastern iftar buffet – catered by Sean Connolly at Dubai Opera, classical and Arabic melodies, and a pop-up Ramadan market in the foyer.

Price: Free for kids under 6, AED 125 for kids aged 6 to 11, AED 250 for ages 12+

4. NAS Night Challenge

Are you ready to take on a challenging (but fun) 5km obstacle race.. at night?! The NAS Night Challenge returns this year so team up and get ready to race to the finish line – the winners get to walk away with medals, and huge cash prizes!

When: Thursday 31st May (single) and Saturday 2nd June (team). From 9.45pm
Where: Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex

5. Alserkal Lates

In addition to the film screenings, there’s a lot more happening at Alserkal Avenue this Ramadan including funky iftars, creative workshops, adoption days (every Saturday) and gallery tours. Every Wednesday, all of the art galleries and creative concepts will stay open late for Alserkal Lates, and there will be guided tours too!

6. Dubai Sports World

Dubai Sports World is finally back! Hands down one of our favorite events in Dubai, and one of the best spaces to play sports, try new activities and stay fit during the hot summer months. This year, they’re bringing back the usual cricket, football, basketball and tennis courts, as well as adding in some new activities like gymnastics, an obstacle course and a battle park!

7. Ramadan Market

Dragon Mart 2 invites you to celebrate the Holy Month at its Arabian-themed Ramadan market! Set under a grand Arabian tent, with a majlis in the centre, there will be special discounts on food, fashion, home decor, handicrafts, cosmetics and more.

When: Until Saturday 19th May, from 10am to 10pm

8. Ramadan Night Market (in Sharjah)

This one is a little out of the city, but definitely worth a mention – especially since the popular Ramadan Night Market in Dubai is not happening this year. Just a short road trip away, the Sheraton Sharjah Ramadan Night Market has deals on clothes, jewellery, accessories, beauty products, toys, handicrafts and lots more.

When: Daily until 17th June, from 6pm to 11pm
