7 Free Events in Dubai to Get Excited About this August

Trying to save up this summer? Luckily, there are quite a few events in Dubai this month that are totally free to attend. From music concerts to Eid Al Adha 2018 celebrations, here are 7 free events in Dubai to look forward to this August…

1. Hala Al Turk live at Dubai Festival City Mall

There’s a free music concert in Dubai, and it’s happening this weekend! Don’t miss the talented Bahraini singer Hala Al Turk perform live at Festival Square, to mark the end of Dubai Summer Surprises.

When: Saturday 4th August, at 7.30pm

2. Contemporary Dance Show at Alserkal Avenue

Based around Alserkal Avenue’s ‘Sensing Memory’ summer programme, Sima Dance Company will be presenting a comtemporary dance piece inspired by memory. Choreographed by Alaa Krimed, this performance is free to watch, and seating will be on a first come first serve basis.

When: Saturday 25th August, at 7.30pm

3. Eid Al Adha 2018 Fireworks at Festival Bay

Don’t miss the sky light up with fireworks to celebrate Eid Al Adha! Get your friends and family together and head to Festival Bay, at Dubai Festival City Mall to catch all the action.

When: TBC – Tuesday 21st to Thursday 23rd August, dates to be confirmed after moon sightings

4. Film Club at Riverland Dubai

Fancy a free movie night? Riverland is screening some seriously good movies at The Encore all summer! The movie nights take place every Thursday and Friday. This month, you can expect to watch Ocean’s 11, 500 Days of Summer, Get Out, The Exorcist, La La Land, Fight Club, Avatar and Lord of the Rings! Check out the full timetable here.

5. Creative workshops at Dubai Design District

Ready to get creative? Dubai Design District is holding free art & design workshops for both kids and adults all this month! From acrylic portrait painting to calligraphy to sketchbooking, there’s so much going on. Check out all the events here.

6. Dream, Girl Film Screening at Alserkal Avenue

As part of Cinema Akil’s Fierce program, Dream, Girl is a documentary showcasing the stories of inspiring and ambitious female entrepreneurs. From new startups to million dollar industries, this documentary aims to inspire young girls to take action.

7. Balqees Live at Dragon Mart 2

Staying in town for the long weekend? You’re in luck, because Balqees Fathi will be performing live on stage in celebration of Eid Al Adha 2018! The Yemeni singer is known for her hits ‘Ya H  awa‘ and ‘Majnoun‘ – and she’s going to rock Dragon Mart 2 this Eid!
