How many malls can say they’ve got a 155 million-year-old dinosaur on display… rightttt past the shoe shops? For a cool educational experience (and awesome Instagram opportunity), head down to the Souk Dome at The Dubai Mall where you’ll find this goliath dino fossil in all its glory.

Location: The Dubai Mall

insydo tip: The educational attraction is a great experience for children, with plenty of interesting information available on site.

2. Take a quick trip to Europe

Guess what? You don’t even have to buy tickets to Dubai Parks & Resorts to gain access to Riverland, where you’ll find a fairy tale French village come to life. Seriously folks, this place is really cool (and authentic!) with fun street performers roaming around and plenty of sights to enjoy (especially the medieval architecture!)

Location: Sheikh Zayed Road, Opposite Palm Jebel Ali.

insydo tip: Don’t miss a stop off at India gate for street

3. Explore an ancient village

A road-trip to Hatta Heritage Village is one of the coolest experiences you’ll ever have in the UAE. Dating back centuries, you can explore the ancient mountain village that includes castles, a fortress and endless opportunities to appreciate UAE heritage.

Location: Hatta, in the Al Hajar Mountains

insydo tip: Guided tours are available for free; it’s a great way to learn more about the site from experts.

IMAGINE at Dubai Festival City is one of the best free attractions you’ll find around town – and it’s also family friendly! A mind-blowing display of lasers, lights, fire and 3D projections, come down to Festival Bay anytime after sunset for this World Record breaking show

Location: Dubai Festival City

insydo tip: The IMAGINE show only runs after sunset unfortunately, since most of the special effects require darkness.

5. Get in touch with nature

Take a tour of Jumeirah’s ultra luxe Al Naseem hotel while checking out the turtle lagoon run the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project – it’s a really awesome experience. With free entry for all, it’s a great way to learn about the organisations conservation efforts while taking in the seaside sights.

Location: Al Naseem hotel

insydo tip: While you’re here, you can dine at one of the hotel’s stunning restaurants.
