Where To Go Rock Climbing in UAE & Oman

Our region is home to a lot of rocky mountains, which makes it an ideal location for rock climbing. Whether you’re a complete beginner looking to practice the basics, or a climbing expert who’s ready to take on Oman’s mountains, there’s something for everyone here. This adventure sport is not for the faint-hearted, but if you’re up for a fun adrenaline-fuelled challenge, here’s where to go…

1. Mountain Extreme, Dubai

This indoor rock climbing gym is perfect for beginners looking to try rock climbing for the first time, as well as those who are looking to practice before hitting the outdoors. The team will help you out with all the basics like how to use the harness, tips on climbing and which coloured rocks to tackle first.

2. Alila Jabal Akhdar, Oman

Fancy trying out an awesome rock climbing adventure, 2000 metres above sea level?! You need to try the Via Ferrata Cave Adventure at Alila Jabal Akhdar in Oman. Assisted by a guide, you’ll get to climb your way across the Jabal Akhdar mountains into a hidden cave, and cross the Via Ferrata – sky bridge hanging over the mountains.

3. Challenging Adventure, RAK

Ras Al Khaimah is filled with mountains, making it a great place to go rock climbing. If you’re looking for a guided rock climbing experience to try, Challenging Adventure offers rock climbing and a lot of other outdoor activities for both kids and adults.

4. Wadi Daykah, Oman

For the experienced rock climbers looking to take on the mountains on your own, Oman is one of the best places to go climbing, or even deep water soloing – solo rock climbing on a mountain with water at the base, to protect your from falls. Wadi Daykah is a great place to go rock climbing, as they have a few crag areas and bolted routes suited for various levels of difficulty. A few other great spots are 5 O’Clock Rock and Qantab.

5. Clymb, Abu Dhabi (Opening soon)

The world’s tallest indoor climbing wall Clymb is set to open in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi soon. There will be four walls of varying difficulties for climbers to practice on, as well as the world’s widest flight chamber. Stay tuned for more details!
