7 Things You Never Knew You Could Do With Your Bronzer!

August 24, 2017

You can take the long route to catching those golden rays of summer radiance… or, you can take these lazy-girl hacks and change your life (and your look) forever. Yes, it’s time to colour, contour and create your summer ‘faux glow’ with a quick trip to Sephora.

With celebrities and makeup artists swearing by BECCA beauty products that are now exclusively stocked at Sephora stores, we shopped the all-new Sunlit Bronzer to show you just how versatile one makeup essential can be. After all, why overexpose your skin to the sun when you can literally ‘bag’ that sun-kissed summer glow?!

1. Apply the rule of ‘3’

… to shape your face! This is a professional makeup tip for those who want to achieve a contoured glow with minimal effort. Apply your bronzer in the motion of the number ‘3’. Start from the hairline and sweep around to the cheek bone, then sweep again from the apples of your cheek to your jawline. Do this a couple of times before blending for a natural finish.

Makeup must-haves: the Becca Sunlit Bronzer and the Sephora Pro-Angled Blush Brush (great for contouring).

Sun-kissed tip: Choose a bronzer that’s one or two shades darker than your skin for a just-off-the-beach look. We chose Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Capri Coast – this shade is perfect for light to medium skin tones.

2. Fake a nose job

…with your bronzer and shimmer! Who knew it was so easy to get a slimmer nose?! Apply your bronzer from the inner eye area downwards to the outer sides of the nose and blend it using a small blending brush. Dab a little highlighter onto the bridge of your nose and you’re done!

Makeup must-have: the Becca Sunchaser Palette, a beach-inspired trio that boasts the Sunlit Bronzer, highlighter and blusher.

Sun-kissed tip: If you want to elongate your nose, go a sweep further with the highlighter and apply it from the bridge of the nose to the tip.

3. Define your eyes

… and swap your eyeshadow for bronzer with a dab of shimmer. The professionals call this the ‘halo makeup’ look; it adds dimension to your eyes and it’s oh-so simple. Take your blending brush and apply your bronzer to your eyelids – focus on the outer and inner corners of the lid. Next, dab your pressed highlighter on the centre of the lid and carefully blend.

Makeup must-haves: BECCA Sunlit Bronzer and BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector CPOP – Pressed Highlighter.

Sun-kissed tip: Ask your Sephora beauty expert for the exclusive C Pop shade (soft gold with sunny, peach undertones), created in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill.

4. Make your lips pop

… because a sun-kissed pout is haute right now! Forget liner, lipstick and gloss – this summer is all about effortlessly natural lips. All you need is a pop of your pressed highlighter on your cupid’s bow and a dab of bronzer on your bottom lip to achieve a fuller-looking pout.

Makeup must-haves: BECCA Sunlit Bronzer and BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector CPOP – Pressed Highlighter.

Sun-kissed tip: For a fuller-looking lower lip, you can apply the highlighter to the centre of the lower lip or use a highlighting pencil just beneath the lip line.

5. Define your collarbones

…and flaunt your off-the-shoulder-style! Summer chic is all about off-the-shoulder outfits, so why not add a bit of definition to your neckline? Sweep your bronzer just under your collarbone, then take your highlighter and apply to the collarbone itself. Blend a little and you’re done!

Sun-kissed tip: Dab a little highlighter to the corner of your shoulders for an added glow.

6. Tone up your arms & legs

…without needing a personal trainer! This is a simple makeup hack that saves you hours in the gym! Take your bronzer and sweep it along the underside of your arm, from your elbow to your armpit. This contouring trick will help to sculpt your arms, especially when you follow it up with a pop of shimmer.

Sun-kissed tip: Ensure that you blend well – you should never be able to see it!

7. Contour your neck

…and rock an up-do hairstyle! For a slender touch of body contouring, apply your bronzer to the outer sides of your neck and your highlighter to the centre – then blend. This principle works just the same as it does for your nose and arms to streamline your silhouette.
