May 22, 2018

Planning a trip abroad during Eid holidays can be hectic, but there are sooo many other ways to enjoy your off time — no passport needed! We’re going to share a few staycation ideas that require minimal organising and will thrill you in ways you may not expect.

With the new 7 seater Volkswagen Teramont launching in the UAE, we figure it’s the perfect time to put you in a road-trip state-of-mind. To help inspire your next family getaway, here are staycation ideas across the seven emirates powered by Volkswagen. Ready to explore?!

1. Hajar Mountains in Fujairah

Why you should go: The Hajar Mountains dominate the Fujairah landscape, so it’s easy to feel a million miles away when cruising through the emirate. While you’re here, don’t miss the historic Al Badiyah Mosque and imposing Fujairah Fort — both of which date back to the 15th century.
Where you should stay: You can rest comfortably at the Radisson Blu Resort which features five outdoor pools and a free children’s club for easy entertaining.

2. Khatts Springs in RAK

Why you should go: Navigate through Jabal Jais for a pit-stop at the world’s longest zipline before checking out Al Sawan Camel Track for a bit of sporting heritage. Bordering Musandam in the north, Ras al-Khaimah is also home to the famed Khatts Springs and its therapeutic pools.
Where you should stay: Stay the weekend and check-in at Smartline Ras Al Khaimah — the beach resort has giant water slides we’re dying to try.

3. 18th century fort in Ajman

Why you should go: While it may be the smallest of the emirates, Ajman offers beautiful coastline that’s great for roadside picnics and camping under the stars. Also be sure to check out the Sharjah Classic Car Museum and Ajman Museum, an 18th-century fortress that features fascinating displays of traditional local lifestyle.
Where you should stay: If you need a place to sleep, Ajman Hotel offers a shaded lagoon pool and exciting beach activities for young guests.

4. Nature reserve in Sharjah

Why you should go: Just a short drive from DXB, don’t miss the Wasit Wetland Centre in Shrjah to meet endangered bird species and enjoy nature walks. Sharjah offers plenty of cool attractions that kids will love, including Sharjah Aquarium and the Arabian Wildlife Center. Pick up souvenirs at the Blue Souk for traditional bazaar vibes and don’t forget to snap family photos on the Corniche.
Where you should stay: Stay at Coral Beach Resort Sharjah where little ones can enjoy the on-site shaded playground and Aladdin Kids’ Club.

5. Al Ain adventures in Abu Dhabi

Why you should go: Known as the Garden City for its green landscape, Al Ain is bursting with charm around every corner. Absolutely take a sunset drive up the now-legendary Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road — the views at the top are your reward. With a go-kart track, a zoo and a manmade rafting river, a roadtrip to Al Ain is an awesome getaway idea for the family who want an action-packed weekend.
Where you should stay: Book yourself into the Danat Al Ain Resort to lounge all day at the lagoon-style swimming pool.

6. Scenic sights in Umm Al Quwain

Why you should go: No drive to Umm Al Quwain is complete without a stop-off at the abandoned Russian cargo plane sitting along the emirate’s main roadway. Spend the day splashin’ around at Dreamland Aqua Park before taking in the sights at the historic Umm Al Quwain Fort.
Where you should stay: Book a night at Palma Beach Resort & Spa where kids can enjoy water activities, game machines and a four-lane bowling alley.

7. Hatta in Dubai

Why you should go: It’s hard to believe that the splendour of Hatta is right on your Dubai doorstep, so traveling here couldn’t be easier. Explore the fascinating Hatta Heritage Village, go kayaking in the emerald-colored waters of Hatta Dam, and make a pit-stop at Fossil Rock — officially called Jebel Maleihah — for pre-historic fun.
Where you should stay: For picture-perfect mountain views, check-in at JA Hatta Fort Hotel which features activities like mini-golf and a waterfall rock pool.

Time to hit the road in style…

If you want to get behind the wheel in comfort, the new Volkswagen Teramont boasts 7 seats so nobody in the family will have to miss out on your UAE adventures. And if you pre-book during Ramadan, they’ll also throw in 7 years of service. Time… to… hit… the… ROAD!
