We Got a Sneak Peek at Dubai’s Hottest New Island Restaurant

September 6, 2017

Dreaming of that island escape? What if we told you it’s a lot closer than you think… Fusing Floridian and Caribbean cuisines with Latin influences, Key West Bar & Grill at Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Dubai is the city’s newest and hottest dining destination. Offering beachside bliss with a tropical twist, get ready to ‘jam‘ the night away with funky sundowners, flavourful dishes and jaw-dropping sunset views.

The island vibes

Expect all-white décor with hints of turquoise, floor-to-ceiling windows and light wooden furniture. Offering fine dining in a casual-chic setting, Key West stays true to its Florida roots, with Ernest Hemingway influences dotted throughout the restaurant. With indoor seating, alfresco dining, a bar area and rum tasting section, there really is something for everyone.

The creative drinks

With all good sunsets comes even better sundowners… and there’s no exception here! Creative, colourful and super funky, Key West’s cocktails not only taste amazing, but also look awesome with little beach-inspired details. The restaurant even offers rum tasting, complete with authentic cigars from the Caribbean and Latin America.

The mouth-watering food

From the locally-grown ingredients to the Josper grill, everything about this restaurant screamed authentic. If that doesn’t impress you, wait until you try Henrietta’s Hot Sauce, a homemade recipe passed down from Head Chef Olivier’s grandmother. We kicked things off with some coconut and turmeric bread, followed by the Beef & Chili (BBQ beef stuffed in Scotch bonnet chilies) and Sweet Shrimp (grilled sugarcane shrimps). For mains, we went for the Jerked Chicken Drumstick and Gros Islet Fish in Foil (poached sea bass drenched in a mouth-watering coconut and chili sauce).

The Insta-worthy desserts

We have one word of advice for you: you HAVE to save room for dessert. The Key West Key Lime is a foodie’s dream come true, served in a hollowed-out bottle, surrounded by sand (brown sugar) and seashells. If that doesn’t make your mouth water, then the Churros Delectado definitely will.

You won’t want to miss:

Key West will be hosting an event this Friday 15th September (from 5.30pm/AED 150 per person) to create awareness for those who have been affected by the recent Hurricane Irma. Nikki Beach has also reached out to Emirates Red Crescent in order to show support for those suffering in areas such as the Caribbean, Florida and Key West.
