When is the Next Public Holiday in UAE?

June 17, 2018

This year’s public holidays haven’t translated into many long weekends unfortunately — but it looks like summer will be ending on a high note. Here are details on the upcoming public holidays UAE 2018

Public holidays UAE 2018 — what’s coming next?

You’ll want to mark your calendars for Eid Al Adha, which is expected to begin on Tuesday, August 21 and lasting three days (subject to the moon-sighting). Another public holiday, Arafat Day, will tentatively fall the day before on Monday, August 20.

Combined together – as the government has done in past years – both the private and public sectors can expect a long midweek break that (hopefully!) rolls into the weekend.

What is Eid Al Adha?

Eid Al Adha is a three-day festival known as the Feast of Sacrifice or ‘big Eid’. It marks the climax of the hajj, the sacred journey to Mecca undertaken by millions of Muslims each year.

Any other public holidays this summer?

The Hijri New Year is expected to fall on Tuesday, September 11, so it’s possible workers will get one day off — though we’ll have to wait on confirmation.

We’ll continue updating you as official announcements are made…
