UAE’s telecom operators are taking a giant leap towards the future with plans to launch 5G networks beginning early 2018. This will make the UAE one of the first countries in the world to adopt the lightning-quick technology, as 5G prepares to penetrate networks globally from next year.
So what’s coming? Residents will soon have access to incredibly fast Internet speeds for things like downloading movies, streaming and browsing the web. 5G technology is pretty much going to change the way we use our devices.
5G technology rolls out in UAE
du and Etisalat (the largest telecom operator in UAE) have already begin testing the 5G technology during drone flights with 4K streaming. Both telecoms will likely roll out ultra mobile broadband services in phases from 2018 in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The 5G networks are likely to officially launch in 2019, as smartphones and carriers become better compatible with the evolving technology.
What is 5G?
5G, or fifth generation wireless, is a new network system capable of ultra-fast speeds. Around four times stronger than our current networks (with speeds of up to 20Gbps). 5G will undoubtedly be a game-changing technology as networks launch around the world in 2019-2019. Welcome to a future where this is the new normal.
