We could barely keep up with all the new Netflix Original Series that came online in 2017… and next year’s promising to be even bigger. With Netflix well on its way to becoming a major player in creating hit shows, here are 5 new series that everybody will be talking about in 2018.

1. Kingdom

In a nutshell: In this zombie thriller set in Korea’s medieval Joseon dynasty, a crown prince is sent on a suicide mission to investigate a mysterious breakout. The series promises to be visually stunning… will it be the next Game of Thrones?

2. Sacred Games

In a nutshell: India’s first Netflix Original Series is coming! Set amidst the chaos of Mumbai, this epic series starring Saif Ali Khan explores the corrupt underworld lurking beneath India’s economic renaissance. Based on the novel… we’re really hoping Sacred Games follows in the direction of Narcos.

3. Altered Carbon

In a nutshell: A new series set 700 years in the future, when the human mind is digitised and downloaded from body to body. Based on the classic cyberpunk novel.

Premiere date: February 2

4. Carmen Sandiego

In a nutshell: Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez will play Carmen Sandiego in the new animated series. The reboot follows Carmen’s new international capers as well as past escapades that led to her becoming a super thief. We can’t wait to see how this unfolds… for the sake of our childhood memories!

5. Tidelands

In a nutshell: Australia is also getting its first Netlix Original Series next year with Tidelands and sci-fi lovers are going to be happy. Set in a fishing village filled with half-Siren/half-human local inhabitants, this crime thriller is making us geek out.
